India Is A Proud Country That Value Its Culture Of Learning

India is a proud country that value its culture of learning. Over the ages, we have treasured our classrooms, worshipped knowledge and honored our teachers. These virtues have remained ingrained in the very fabric that makes us. Hard work comes as a second nature to our people. I am privileged to have this opportunity to write here while somewhere a proud student reads under an oil lamp. Discussion Questions Week 2 1.) What is meant by the term double-entry accounting? Examples are great and try to build on what each other has said. Double entry accounting is based on the fact that every financial transaction has equal and opposite effects in at least two different accounts. In the double entry system, transactions are recorded in terms of debits and credits. Since a debit in one account will be offset by a credit in another account, the sum of all debits must therefore be exactly equal to the sum of all credits. The double-entry system of bookkeeping or accounting makes it easier to accurately prepare financial statements directly from the books of account and detect errors. For example: A company borrows a loan†¦show more content†¦| 5000 | | Supplies | 1200 | | Account Payable | | 1200 | Rent Expense | 8000 | | | | | Total | $14200 | $ 14200 | 4.) What are adjusting entries and why are they important? | | | | | | Adjusting entries are usually made on the last day of an accounting period so that the financial statements reflect the revenues that have been earned and the expenses that were incurred during the accounting period. The purpose of each adjusting entry is to get both the income statement and the balance sheet to be correct. An example of adjusting entry: a customer paid a company in advance of receiving goods or service, the amount is reported as a liability. After the goods or services are delivered, an adjusting entry is needed to reduce the liability and to report the revenues. 5.) Cash basis vs Accrual basis The difference between accrual and cash basis accounting is the timing of when revenue and expenses are recognized. The cash method is most used by small businesses and for personal finances. The cash method for revenue is only used when the money is received and expenses are only used when the money is paid out. Growth Conversations to Engage and Retain †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Growth Conversations to Engage and Retain. Answer: Introduction A multinational corporation (MNC) must hire, motivate, retain and effectively utilize the service of people in its international offices, as well as in the home office at the parent country. So, this is basically a Human Resource Management at an international level, and thus, is called International Human Resource Management (IHRM). IHRM is more complex and at a completely different level than the usual Human Resource Management, as it is aimed at managing an organizations human resources at an international level for the purpose of achieving organizational objectives and also, to achieve a competitive advantage over the competitors at both National and International levels (Albu Morosan-Danila, 2009). In contrast to the Domestic Human Resource Management (DHRM), an International Human Resource Management needs a broader perspective, as the work force mix of every country varies and so do the differentiating factors that affect them. So, in IHRM there is more exposure to risk and there are more influences of the external factors than the internal factors. Globalization of business, which leads to mobilization of resources is one of the major factors of organisations growing interests in the International Human Resource Management. IHRM becomes all the more necessary to minimize the risk of underperformance/failure in the international assignments, as it is focused on effectively managing the companys human resource on a global level. Companies these days are moving from traditional hierarchical organisational structures to a network level structure. IHRM plays a significant role in implementing and control of strategies in an international business. In a globalized business of a Multi-National Corporation, things are very volatile. The businesss needs, demands, structure, etc. is always changing. The role of a Human Resource Manager is to meet the needs this rapidly changing organization. Organisational success depends on its ability of being more adaptable, resilient and flexibility to change its directions. The organisations today are becoming more and more customer cantered. So, a Human Resource professionals needs to learn how to effectively plan, organize, lead and control the Human Resource, along with being aware of the major future demographic, technological and societal changes, to prepare themselves accordingly (Markoulli, 2017). Rapidly changing profile of the workers The demographic differences between the developed and developing nations is placing a greater pressure on both government and private sector to improvise their methods for education and retaining a diverse working population which is changing at a fast pace. According to a survey of 636 C-level and senior executives by The Economist Intelligence Unit, sponsored by the SHRM Foundation in 2013, the People Management is cited to be by far the most substantial challenge that companies face over the next five to ten years. A major number of women workers are projected to enter in the international workforce in upcoming years. Also, the companies need to adapt themselves for this new definition and structure of the employees which include a significant portion of temporary and part time workers. On top of that, there is a pressure to manage the generation gap between the workers these days, focusing on the requirements of older generation employees versus the newer generation of employees. Companies these days face a void in leadership positions as the experienced and old age employees are leaving the organisations after approaching their retirement ages (Economist Intelligence, 2017). Age will continue to be a threat to companies all over the world because just like any other resource, the Human Resource can also be used for a limited period of time before it gets depleted. Thus, companies need to come up with some effective solutions where the older generation passes the Baton to the newer generation effectively (Bolchover, 2013). There needs to be a great focus on the subject as to how the skills and experience of an old employee can be passed on to a new and relatively young employee. Making the younger population Work Ready over the world, is very challenging due to high unemployment rates over many countries. Whereas, for the people who are employed and remain employed in future, it is very important that their skills and talent remain relevant to the employers. For this to happen, governments, corporations and education sector must collaborate to restructure the educational system in such a way that it prepares the upcoming generations for the jobs in future. If there is collaboration at the planning stage itself, it can be ensured that the necessary education and skills can be imparted to the youth, so that they dont fail in the Skill department when it comes to finding jobs. Similarly, it is beneficial for corporations in such a manner, that they lay out their requirements of the skills and the human resources they receive in future will be tailor made, based on their specifications. Thus, they wont face the labour shortages in the upcoming years (Crabtree, 2 013). Over the years, companies have also face problems to maximize the contribution of women in the workforce. Based on a research, A mere 13 out of the largest 500 companies in the world by revenue had women CEOs in 2012, a proportion of just 2.6 percent. The major reason for this handful contribution of women in the top management is always stated as that a Woman needs to look after her family, thus, she cannot focus on the work. Whatever the reason for women to struggle in the male-dominated society, companies are losing out on a talent which they find with much difficulty. This issue has been taken up by the politicians, time to time, with women empowerment as one of their key agendas when they win the election. Therefore, it is possible that in the near future, companies may get pressurized from the government to increase a proportion of female work force both in total number as well as in the managing roles. Therefore, the corporations must be ready beforehand, by identifying their skilled high potential female work force and also identifying ways to keep these females interested and committed to the organisation. Mentorship programs, involving the senior women executives providing coaching to the younger female employees of the company. The major challenge would be to keep the female employees engaged to the work when they take leaves due to provide time to the family. Perhaps continuous communication and the option to work from home can keep their interest piqued, allowing them to focus both on family as well as work. If we talk on a broader level, the Human Resources managers will have to meet the demands of their female work staff to equal salary and promotions in addition to the bunch of other benefits (Childcare, work from home, etc.). The thing with employee benefits is that there is no fixed set that meet all the requirements of each and every individual and keep them satisfied. Thus, a customized mix of these benefits must be used to include a varied and international workforce (Group, 2010). Finding Skilled workers and understanding the definition of Skill based on the nature of work Definition of skill, in respect of work is ever evolving. On top of that, the conventional education does not provide the cluster of qualities that one needs to do a work effectively. There are always gaps between the actual skills of a worker than the required skill to perform a job. As per the 2013 EIU/SHRM Foundation survey, executives reported that the current disconnect between the skills fostered by education and those they actually need will represent a very considerable obstacle in the coming years. This implies that in the upcoming year, it will be more difficult to for the Human Resource professionals to analyse and judge the skills of an applicant based on their education. On top of that, there are no standards to categorize the education overall the globe, thus, it becomes all the more difficult in IHRM to choose the qualifications for a job very carefully, when hiring across the borders. The education not only varies between the countries, but also within the different institutions of the same country. So, in order to make wiser decisions related to hiring, an HR must be aware of these differences (SAP Company, 2017). This will enable the HR to make an informative decision while filtering out the candidates based on their educational qualifications, for a particular job. To increase the knowledge of skill sets required to execute the functions, the HR must synergise with the relevant departments of the organization, while hiring. Many executives are of the belief that there will be severe skill shortages in the near future due to low rate of births and unchanging education systems. Thus, as mentioned above, the organisations and education systems need to collaborate and come out with such an educational system that can help their fear to not come true (Department of Health, 2014). In another survey done by the Economist Intelligence Unit in 2012, the executives worldwide revealed, The most problematic recruitment challenges, by a substantial margin, relate to technical/engineering roles, and to the strategy and corporate-development function. The executive stated that it is very difficult to find an executive these days which is well versed in strategy execution and the ability to solve complex problems. Companies these days, are not able to find the people which can become their beacon of light between the unpredictability and cut throat competition. For a position in the lower level of hierarchy, HR is constantly facing a lack of good communication and soft skills within candidates. Moreover, these candidates also lack in the creative and adaptive ability, which makes it a hard job to train them for the work. The lack of such basic skills is the reason of huge unemployment rates in the world economy. Thus, the companies need to engage in a multi-level approach, to get the skill which they require. The organisations should take more initiatives to address and take up this issue to the governments. And ask for a collaboration between them and the educational institutions to redevelop the curriculums to fit their needs. They need to address the methods and means of imparting knowledge to the young ones, so that it enables them to develop the skills, which could act as a bride to the skill void in the near future. To start, the companies could organise various workshops, events and training programmes, by partnering with the educational institutions. These programs can be fitted right into the regular curriculum and adjusted accordingly. So, this will address the issue to provide the necessary skills in short term, while companies, government and educational institutes synergise to revolutionize the education in a long term. The problem to Engage and Retain a Dynamic Resource Human Resources or a companys workforce is a Resource, like any other resource and it is very dynamic in nature. As discussed above, that the profile of workers is ever-changing in todays world and thus, their motivational factors and their expectation levels change too. It is very necessary for Human Resource department to know what matters to the workers. Is it money...? Recognition...? Or perhaps, freedom to work. The fact is, answer to this question is also no longer definite. The needs and motivations of people change individually. Even on the broader level, it is very difficult find a common factor of motivation due to a diverse workforce; based on ethnicity, religion, gender etc. So, the HR professional need to make of mix of these benefits and use this mix wisely, as and where required, to keep the workers engaged (Miller-Merrell, 2017). The company will need to adjust their financial compensation and retention strategies in such a manner, that they can also provide for the p eople who are not driven enough by just money (Technologies, 2012). The task of the HR is not just to hire an employee. They also need to make sure that the people they hired are engaged and satisfied with the company and are working up to their full potential. They also need to make sure that the people do not resign in a short tenure, as it will waste all the investment that was made by the company, in order to hire them. This investment is Interview cost, training cost, opportunity cost of letting another able candidates go, etc. Engaging the workforce is not a childs play, as most of them are not engaged anyway. As per Gallups study of 142 countries, it was found out that only 13% of the overall international workforce was engaged. In other words, it could be said that, internationally, only 13% of the employees are committed to their jobs. A majority, about 63%, among these working population does not feel engaged to their work, which clearly states that the lack the motivation to do work. The rest 24% of this population has been termed as Actively Disengaged. These are the people, who are not just unhappy with their jobs, but also spread rumours and negativity among their colleagues (Heathfield, 2017). The younger population, also termed as Generation Y is hard to please and difficult to retain. Most of the younger working population have very low commitment to the organisation. They are the people who are too eager to grow and make a name for them. Even if they are committed to work, it is very difficult of the HR to retain them. The HR needs to explore variety of techniques and a mix of benefits to retain these kind of employees (Haines, 2015). It is very important to have a right mix of the motivational strategies in those corners of the world, where there is a cut throat competition for the preferred skills within the individuals for the job. In this world, where Multinational companies are expanding at a fast pace, local entrepreneurship is blooming and the number of skilled young workforce is expected to fall, the battleground between companies will become exceptionally harsh. In one of its studies, McKinsey reported that the senior managers of the multinational corporations, working in the business units situated in China, switch the companies at a rate of 30-40 percent each year, which is approximately five times higher than the global rate Technological advancements of the present world have enabled the Multi-National Corporations to expand at a very fast rate, as the modes of communication have minimized the distance gaps to a great extent. Tools such as the Teleconferencing has allowed the teams within different borders to work in a collaboration. It not only saves on the travel costs, but also has negated the relocation costs, that a company may had to bear for relocating the employees overseas for a sort term project (Long, 2016). Establishment of Virtual Teams have a helped, any organisations in variety of ways. It has enabled the companies to increase their pool of knowledge regarding a market, through individual team members. With the help of technology, many job profiles are evolving which calls for a change in HR policies to manage their policies and programmes to fit the requirements of their virtual workers. The company may face challenges among the countries which are not technologically advanced. Conclusion In the end, it can be concluded that IHRM is both similar and entirely different from the traditional Human Resource Management. The various trends that we discussed above also pose a major challenge to the International Human Resource managers. Identifying these challenges in advance and preparing for them is the best way to tackle them. The final test for an international HR manager will be that when time comes, how much he had prepared the organisation for the challenge that it faces. References Albu, O., Morosan-Danila, L. Does highest GDP guarantee highest quality of life free essay sample

Founded little over 200 years ago, Qatar isnt just famous for the fact that it is the host country of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Qatar has been listed as number one in the world for the highest GDP per capita by the World Bank, CIA World Factbook, and the International Monetary Fund. Although a high GDP will sound attractive, the question of whether GDP truly is a measure of prosperity comes to mind and casts doubt. Despite Its high GDP per caplta, Qatar does not have the best quality of life as Its economy Is highly based on a nonreusuable resource and Its government system is still unstable. Qatar has faced the fastest economic growth in the world, but the growth was due to Its abundance In a depleting natural resource: petroleum. Qatar, with Its abundance In gas, became the largest liquefied natural gas supplier among the OPEC countries and is one of the leading trade partners of the united States. We will write a custom essay sample on Does highest GDP guarantee highest quality of life? or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Ever since Qatar has Increased Its production and exports of petroleum to the world and Its economy had burst and turned the country into the richest nation on the earth. As gas prices Increase all over the world, the extra petroleum In Qatar will guarantee prosperity ut only for a limited amount of time. According to an article by Emirates 2417, the country is supposed to continue produce and export petroleum for another 40 years with the stored oil reserves. However, the growth In the economy will sharply slow down after 2012, when the mega gas projects that have been initiated back in early 1990s are completed. This outlines another problem that Qatari economy is heavily based on foreign labor, reaching over 90% of its labor force being foreigners. Qatars main source of wealth comes from oil which is mainly exported and its other sectors arent as profitable. The profit accumulated In the oil business goes basically to foreign workers who are bound to go back to their home countries. Although the country is improving Itself by investing in social factors that are making living standards better, the fact that only a third of the population which adds up to about 350,000 are actual citizens of the country still remains a problem. Due to the massive gas supply, electricity and water supply Is completely free for the Qataris and there obviously Is a problem of overuse. The foreign citizens dont necessarily have to worry about the environmental future f the country and the lack of nationalism among the residents will turn Qatar into lust an exploitable good. How can a country succeed If majority of its country remains to be non citizens who are to work? Although Qatar might be more of a liberal state than some Arab States, it still Is very limiting compared other liberal states of the Persian Gulf. It is true that there is a civil law applied to the state, but some parts of the legal Issues are applied according to the Islamic law. According to the Travel. State. Gov, although incidents of violence are t Of2 are, attacks against western targets nave occurred. I nere nave Deen al-Qalaa affiliated attacks on Westerners and there has been a suicide bomber attack in Doha back in 2005. With the growing population of foreigners, there have noticeable instances of clash between the locals and the expatriate workers. In order to prevent such social disorder, there is a large police force present throughout the country. Although a larger police force might sound reassuring, it can be very limiting at the same time, as one of the main reasons for visiting Qatar is for a relaxing vacation free f constraints. These police forces can be especially more strict with foreigners and since Qatari law is based partly on the Islamic laws, some laws are severe than that of other countries like Korea or the United States. Crimes that might be considered as minor in other countries can be severely punished with imprisonment or deportation. Like the saying, money cant buy everything, highest GDP per capita does equate to the best quality of life in the case of Qatar as the country faces a problem of exploitation and instability. Petroleum is bound to be depleted and even if Qatar develops and funds its non energy sector, it still will not match up to the wealth accumulated by the oil business. As GDP is not only a sign of wealth but also a sign of spending, the country will reach a point where its citizens are overspending money compared to the income that they are making. This will eventually cause the residents to leave Qatar as no longer will their presence be economically profitable. The country, already faced with problems regarding trouble with the foreigners, will become an empty city.

Background of white goods and hospitality industries On a global scale, white goods industry is a major domestic appliance industry that manufactures microwaves, large cooking appliances, dishwashers, home laundry and refrigeration appliances among others items. It is also worth to note that the white goods sector in Australia alone generated a sales value from its large kitchen appliances of approxim ately $2200 million in 2003. The key players of White goods industry in concentrating ownership and restructuring production in the regional markets are group of multinational corporations (MNCs) such as the Asia-Pacific, North America and European Union. The retail sales for White goods products globally are made by LG Group, Haier, general Electric (GE), Bosch-Siemens, Electrolux and Whirlpool which are all Multinational Corporations. The Australian White goods sector displays characteristics which are similar to that of other white goods global chains. Research studies indicate that there has been a major change in employment in this industry emanating from standardization and simplification of production platforms in which standard engineering frameworks are used. Furthermore, introduction of just-in-time, flexible techniques and computer aided manufacturing methods used in this industry have not only enhanced the speed of product renewal but have also in conjunction with laws a nd regulations, reshaped employment relations in the industry. On the other hand, one of the industries in Australia that has demonstrated rapid growth is hospitality industry. It has displayed some remarkable shift from the well known traditional secondary and primary service sectors. As a prime example, it was ranked the seventh largest employer in the period 2004-2005 from its earlier position twelve in 1989-1990 (O’Brien O’Donnell, 2000). Other industries in Australia that have also exhibited more rapid growth include health and community services and that of property and business services. However, in terms of employment relations and labor market, hospitality industry in Australia has continued to exhibit distinctive features.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? In addition, its employment relations too have been immensely affected and have been characterized by poor working conditions, unemployment and low membership in unions. In order to regulate its working conditions and wages, it has continued to depend on the award system (Waring Bray, 2006). This essay compares and contrasts white goods and hospitality industries in Australia. Comparisons To begin with, both white goods and hospitality industries in Australia are facing challenges from national industrial relations following the introduction of legislations on products, employment relations, advertisements and marketing. The laws and regulations are controlling various operations done by the industries and this impact on employments relations prevailing in these industries. The legal environment in which these industries operate has significant legal changes that affect their operations. The areas that have been most impacted by these changes include employment relations, demand for products or services bought by consumers and the cost incurred for developing new procedures and systems. Secondly, both industries have also been able to experience growth despite changes from their microenvironments. Changes in the market and business trends today have put pressure on both firms to increase their employment relations by developing and building focus on core competencies. Due to intensive competition and increasing uncertainty, MNCs have maintained sustainable advantage and made tremendous gains because they have improved on employment relations with their workforce. In white goods industry located in Australia, an increase in global competition affects its functional roles and other issues that deal with managerial roles or leadership in business. According to Waring and Bray (2006), consistent provision of superior value and high quality products to customers is determined by a firm’s abil ity to establish strategic business decisions on employment relations as well as strategic capabilities.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Comparisons and contrasts of white goods and hospitality industries specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Through these, successful organizations have maintained customer satisfaction, achieved overall strategic goals and increased their production processes at a lower cost. For instance, white goods industry capabilities have been witnessed in the manner in which they have combined organizational knowledge, integrated technology and coordinated production skills at lower costs. It is imperative to note that MNCs have been able to relocate and downsize their production to locations of lower cost. This strategic move that white goods in Australia have adopted tends to transcend both the operations which are geographically dispersed and areas of traditional functions through creation of supportive infrastructure via investments. Production capability is built on investments on employment relations. This is fundamental in transforming the processes of production into competitive weapons and reducing unions bargaining power. Both industries have organizational structures having departments that plays host to important business and management functions. These departments include production, marketing and finance among others. These organizational structures describe the nature of strategy a company has. A bigger and more advanced structure denotes a greater global strategy unlike a structure that will house small and domestic business functions. For instance, due to global competition, white goods industry has adopted new and better ways of organizing there structures. The system of work and relationship has changed. An individual may be required to multitask, leaders may be required strategize for investments and policies for finance and to draw strategies for dev elopment and scientific research. This new structural organization combines autonomous and semi-autonomous way of administration. Increase in competition and MNC’s have led to an effective white goods organizational structure that has improved the level of productivity within the industry.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Employment relations in this industry have been done efficiently and effectively and as such, white goods industry in Australia has been able to produce and sell its high quality products at a low cost and still maintain a competitive advantage. Research studies attribute this to restructuring employment relations and production capabilities in such a way that productions are done at a low cost possible. Contrasts The hospitality industry in Australia, like in most nations in the world, has been affected by unstable equilibriums. A shift from short run to long run equilibrium is due to economic forces determined by a slight deviation in wages and prices from the equilibrium. In the same manner, employment and aggregate output causes fluctuations in the Australian economy. The level of employment and unemployment rises and falls during such time. Unemployment has remained high in the hospitality industry and the labor market has becomes slack. In turn, this affects the ability of the hospitality industry to employ more workforces and make better sales (Thompson, 2003). As such, the human resource management of large employers like white goods becomes formalized while in the hospitality industry, where there are many small employers, ad hoc systems are adopted in order to manage employees. It is imperative to note that due to reliance on the award systems in the hospitality industry, employment relations are strained and workers are less inclined to perform their duties. Since hospitality industries in Australia are small in size and spread out, it becomes cumbersome for unions, which have low bargaining power, to service and recruit members. Additionally, employment conditions in the hospitality industry have continued to be poor with more of low pay, low skilled jobs, high labor turnover and casual employments among others. Its employment relations too have been immensely affected and have been characterized by poor working conditions, unemployment and low mem bership in unions. In order to regulate its working conditions and wages, it has continued to depend on the award system (Anderson, Teicher Griffin, 2005). On the other hand, white goods industry through laws and regulations reduces the influence and power of unions in terms of bargaining. In turn, it eliminates support mechanisms that the union has that include bargaining fees and payment reduction done on union fees for non-union workers. This creates a favorable business environment especially in terms of employment relations. White goods industry, being a large manufacturer of microwaves, large cooking appliances, dishwashers, home laundry appliances and refrigeration appliances among others things needs to have enough employees to serve the adverse clients with various needs and work towards the organizational growth; the push to reduce the scope of bargaining by the industrial relations law and regulation will lead to more money being allocated for employees as wages which wi ll affect the organizational plans and expansion strategies (Anderson, Teicher Griffin, 2005). The laws and regulations set by the industry allow agreements made between non-unions and the white goods management team to be experimented. Moreover, the organizational structure of White goods industry is a representation of a business program that has a chain of command whereby officers of the company as well as the employees are categorized in units that show their level of importance and responsibility. The organizational structure defines relationship that should exist between the chain of command and employees. With this in place, a company stands a better chance of minimizing costs and maximizing results since everyone in the company will know how to interact with one another and with various departments in the company. In addition, workers will quite well, understand their responsibilities and their duties. An effective system of good governance forms its foundation in an organi zational structure that is competently built. This kind of organizational structure ensures that there is increased productivity through assigning areas of duty and power to the leaders as well as employees, ensuring that staff members are not under too much pressure or overworked. It is also important to build positive interaction among company leaders and employees. On the other hand, as earlier indicated, Australian hospitality industry has over the years suffered from employment challenges such as low pay to employees, low skilled jobs, high labor turnover and casual employment among others. This can be attributed to lack of efficient and effective organizational structure alongside poor employee relations. References Anderson, E., Teicher, J. Griffin, G. (2005).
